Welcome and thank you for your interest in becoming a SummerWorks mentor. SummerWorks is the Washtenaw County Summer Youth Employment Program, a 10-week summer employment and mentorship program that pairs local employers with young adults aged 16-24. SummerWorks Washtenaw is a partnership between Michigan Works! Southeast, the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development and the University of Michigan.
As a mentor, you will be paired with a young adult and have the opportunity to share your career journey with them every week for approximately 30-60 minutes. Becoming a SummerWorks mentor will require attending orientation and a kickoff event as well as a weekly commitment of 30-60 minutes for in-person or virtual meetings with your mentee from mid-June to late-August. Mentors are also invited to our community celebration events (optional).
The information you provide will be used to match you with your mentee adult. We will be in touch in April regarding next steps.
Mentor Orientation: Please plan on attending on: Wednesday 5/15 (5-6:30pm) OR Friday 5/17 (9-10:30am).
